My friend Kevin Rains does collision repair in Cincinnati. Well, he doesn’t do it, but the guys at his Norwood body shop do. (Center City Collision) And they do a great job!

I’ve been remiss in giving a proper shout-out to them. Granted, if you don’t live in Cincy, you probably won’t need them. But if like me you occasionally find yourself in a rough neighborhood such as Liberty Township, then you need to know who to talk to when the local hoodlums have their way with your windshield.

Kevin’s boys (I don’t think they have any female techs) took good care of me, though I did have to spend a few extra hours in the ‘Nati. Unfortunately, no time for goetta. Maybe a future trip.

The windshield repair wasn’t the first time I’d gotten the treatment from CCC. They did a bit of work on the old blue van (some of you might remember that sweet ride). As a big guy I put a little extra strain on car seats. After many years of abuse my van seat couldn’t take anymore and the frame broke. These guys can handle a torch, so they fixed me right up. That van is now long gone, but wherever it might be that seat is firmly secured. I do miss that van.

I strongly encourage Cincy people to use Center City Collision. When it comes to any kind of vehicle work, it’s good to have someone you can trust. For my Indianapolis neighbors, I recommend Langfords Collision Repair. Tell Greg or Steve you heard it from me.

I Googled, Tweeted, and Facebooked to no avail, though my dad suggested I might make the repair on my own. Not a chance! (turns out I had no chance of succeeding)

Finally, I got a good ‘ol fashioned referral via my friend, Mike Spencer. Just what I was looking for. He suggested Jon Mathew of Mathew Appliance Repair. I made contact with Jon. He was able to get to me sooner than expected, though the youngest daughter had to head off to school before the fix.

Jon was on-time, clean, and very thorough. He was obviously committed to making sure the appliance was working properly. He took the time to explain to me what was going on and how he was fixing the problem. The price was quite fair.

I highly recommend Mathew Appliance Repair. I’ll be calling Jon next time any of my appliances need fixing.

Many people are quick to point out that Twitter is simply the latest, greatest thing. Well, uh, yeah. Don’t large hordes of people gather around the latest and the greatest? Sounds perfect for people who need to do some marketing.

The book title says this book is about marketing but regardless of role or title, anyone involved with business will benefit from the content. In the world of social media the lines between marketing, sales, customer service, and PR are blurring. This is certainly the case with new media apps such as Twitter.

The thought of all you could be doing with this trendy tool is quickly overwhelming. It’s hard to know where to start. Getting advice from an experienced user, whether from a book or a blog, can save a lot of time.

I consider myself relatively savvy when it comes to social media. I’ve been blogging and using Twitter for some time now. Nevertheless, I learned a few things myself and made note of a number of websites and applications I didn’t know about. Kyle offers solid advice and helpful tips throughout the book (though thanks to the way they do these books it gets a bit redundant).

I confess. I’d rather read a book than a blog. I like the way they smell; the way they feel. But I have to say, if you’re a business owner reading a book about Twitter then you’re a bit behind. But don’t give up. Better late than never.

Twitter will eventually be passe. It will pass out of favor or we’ll move on to a new technology. Most of the concepts in this book are applicable to much of the social media realm and will transfer to whatever new tool emerges next.

The film, apparently the first installment of a trilogy, deals with the life of Ghengis Khan.  It is subtitled but the dialogue is sparse.  Just right.  Cinematography is good.  Soundtrack is really interesting.  I do recommend it.
